What is SD-WAN?

SD-WAN is a specific application of software defined networking applied to WAN connections. It is a virtual or overlay network running on top of existing internet and VPN connections.
It operates over any wired or wireless access including fibre, HFC, microwave, copper, LTE or Wi-Fi.
Unlike previous WAN migrations, an SD-WAN deployment does not require a upgrade of your existing WAN infrastructure.
SD-WAN allows you to connect any user with any authorised application, regardless of where that user is located or how they are accessing the network.
Depending on the WAN connections available at each site, you can establish policies that will determine which network link each application will use based on pre-defined latency, jitter and packet loss parameters that are monitored in real-time.
